That means a specific folder on the hard drive. When the operating system boots, links listed in this specific folder start their own respective applications. Changing settings of this program for current startup applications is accomplished through the system configuration tool.

The main instructions
1. Firstly add a Link to the startup folder

2. Then Click the Windows "Start" button.

3. Then select "All Programs." Right-click the "Startup" folder in the menu.

4. Then select "Open All Users." On the computer, this option opens the folder  for all users.

5. Then choose "Explore" to open the folder: its for the currently logged-in user only.

6. Then Right-click the folder (or file) you want started when the computer boots.

7. Select "Copy" from the menu.

8. Then right-click any white space in the "Startup" folder.

9. Then select "Paste" from the menu list.

10. Now the program will open the next time you start the computer.

How to change current startup programs

• Firstly click the Windows "Start" button.

• Then type "msconfig" in the search text box. (This also opens the
System Configuration console). 

• Then click the "Startup" tab. (This is also gives to you a view
of all the programs installed as startup options on your computer). 

• When you boot the computer, the check boxes of the applications
you want to start. 

• Clear the check box if the programs you no longer want to start. 

• Then click "apply”. 

• Then close the configuration window. 

• That time a popup window will ask if you want to reboot the
computer. 

• Then click "restart" to reboot the computer.
