Chavittu Nadakam

Chavittu Nadakam is a colorful Syrian Christian classical art form originated from Kerala state in India. It is believed to be that originated after the arrival of foreign missionaries to the south Indian shores. It is noted for its elaborate costumes, their attractive makeup of characters and well-defined body movements presented in a tune with rhythmic playback music. In this art, there are large number of characters and all in glittering medieval dresses. It is believed to be the origination during the 16th century A. D. This form of art is prevalent among the Syrian Christian community in the districts of Middle districts of Kerala. It is symbolize the martial traditions of Malayalam Christians. It is usually performed on open stages.
